Majakka
General chat and workspace.
Aatu Isopahkala / maker
I build Android apps, games and tools of my own. I make music and write about AI and what technology does to people.
Here you can explore projects, released music and writing. Some experiments work; others are still under construction.

One idea. Many ways to build.
Finnish apps and experiments that put more choices in people’s hands. Some are working betas; others are still taking shape.
WHY I'M BUILDING THIS
My aim is to build Finnish applications, platforms and tools for people of all ages and abilities, including alternatives to large international platforms such as Instagram, TikTok and Facebook.
Finland needs its own information infrastructure: technology designed around control of data, local needs, privacy, community and people's ability to act independently.
Majakka is an Android app ecosystem. Individual parts may later become standalone apps for easier development and maintenance. For now, the work is experimental and ongoing.
One app. Many environments.

Android · in active development · v1.5.31
Majakka is a Finnish Android app in active development, bringing conversations, practical tools, file editing, creative work and user-defined workflows into one place.
AI is one tool among many. Users can choose between local and cloud models and shape the workspace to fit their needs.
One app, different ways to work. Explore the environments.
General chat and workspace.
Everyday matters and public services.
Support for care and social work.
Teaching, planning and learning.
Tools for practical work.
Research and analysis.
Disciplines and concepts.
A simplified interface.
Summaries and guided workflows.
Personal media and content feeds.
Audio and music workflows.
Images and creative work.
Games and experiments.
Äppö and other characters.
Alongside its environments, Majakka includes a range of practical tools. Here are a few.
Create multi-step workflows with your own instructions, stages and tools. Not everything needs to fit into a single chat.

The same starting point in different forms: local messaging, satire and short video. These are independent betas, not finished replacements for major platforms.

BETA · ANONYMOUS MESSAGING
An experiment in anonymous and local communication. Areas, channels and privacy controls come first, rather than conventional user accounts.
Open KAIVO
BETA · SOCIAL SATIRE
An absurd experiment in endless social scrolling. A Threads-like feed becomes a restroom, where algorithms, profiles and maintenance acquire new meanings.
Open Infinite ToiletOpen image to enlarge
BETA · SHORT-VIDEO EXPERIMENT
An experimental take on short videos and their feeds. It explores how a simpler local video experience might become an alternative to the patterns of large platforms.
Open PaskaTokScreenshots will come later. You can already explore the prototype via the link.
An experimental lab for market data and explainable decisions.

PUBLIC RC1 · RESEARCH PROTOTYPE
Signaalikone studies market data, compares historical structures and makes its reasoning visible. Its engine room exposes signals, uncertainty and risk limits for inspection. Decisions can be tested with simulated money.
Explore SignaalikoneSimulation only. Not investment advice or proof of predictive performance.
Up next: a dedicated messenger and more standalone tools. Not every idea is a finished product yet.
Majakka is an unfinished development project. Some features are experimental and change between versions.
02 / KNOWLEDGE & COUNTERCULTURE
An open knowledge base and digital counterculture magazine. Anopedia brings together concepts, articles, the Anomalogical Institute and creative work.
Five views of the site. Open any image for a closer look or browse with the arrows. Screenshots are in Finnish.
Concepts, original frameworks and connections between subjects, including the institute’s disciplines and research.
Writing on philosophy, technology and society, with room for alternative perspectives and unfinished thoughts.
Comics, memes, poetry and aphorisms accompany articles. The archive helps ideas find new forms.
03 / CHARACTERS & STORIES

A raccoon with a slightly different view of the world.
Äppö is Majakka’s raccoon character and a curious explorer in Anomancer’s worlds. The same character travels between applications, stories and playful experiments.
04 / MUSIC
Two different directions: Black Hole Core / Anomancer explores ideas and experimental sound; Unadapted leans into emotion. Listen for yourself.
Sound that tears open ideas and expectations. Experimental genres, narrative series, absurdity and layers of thought.
Music made with my brother, reaching for emotion. Songs that reward slowing down and listening carefully.
05 / WRITING
How do you give an AI agent boundaries? How do you spot a poor solution? How does technology change work and everyday life?
Selected earlier writing. Dates indicate original publication; older claims have not been automatically updated.

Who am I?
I have followed AI closely since the first major wave. I am especially interested in what systems can actually do, how their limits appear in practice and how quickly the language around them starts to develop a life of its own.
I follow the global development, but also how the same phenomenon appears in Finland. I am especially interested in the gap between what the technology can actually do and how it is discussed in public. That gap fills quickly with uncertainty, exaggeration, dismissal and disinformation. Algorithms tend to amplify what makes people react, not necessarily what helps them understand what is happening.
I build, test, read and compare models in practice. I look at them from technical, human and social positions because the same system can look very different depending on where you stand.
My original background is not in computer science. I trained as a practical nurse and disability support worker, and later as a ventilation installer. There was no ready-made path from there into AI research or technology. I ended up here mainly by building, studying and connecting things that do not necessarily belong in the same room on paper.
That probably explains how I look at technology too. I am rarely interested only in how a system works. I care just as much about what it does to people, what kinds of behaviour it creates, and what happens when a technical system meets the real world.
Systems thinker, concept designer and prototyper describe my work better than a single established title. If I need one name for the wider approach, I use Modular Creative Intelligence.
Who I am: a human from Tampere who loves raccoons and conceptual clarity, while also building concepts of my own that are not always very clear.
What I do: art and research, although some days I may simply spend time wondering about the taste of a cherry tomato and the roundness of it.
Why I do it: to help myself and others, and to act as one example of how we might build a more responsible future without forgetting curiosity and our ability to laugh.
Who it is for: primarily anyone who is already at least a little horrified by having to wade through the fog of the internet.
06 / BACKGROUND
Optional background reading. These concepts are not applications and are not required to explore the work.
Fenosofia · An unfinished personal framework exploring experience, experimentation and knowledge.
Ontosophical Explorer (OE) · An English-language conceptual name connected to Majakka and Fenosofia, not a standalone product.
FEIK · A conceptual, heuristic sketch of power, not a measured mathematical law or software product.
07 / CONTACT

I am especially interested in strange edge cases around AI, software, learning, creative work, security, communication and research. I am open to collaborations, experiments and possible work opportunities.
“I have this slightly strange problem. What do you see in it?”
